VIT Boy's Hostel

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
2019 - 2021, Block 1 & 2, Dining

The project houses a total of 2,400 students (600 students in each block). The site of the hostel complex is divided into nine equal parts. Each part houses a hostel building or an amenity. Double level walkways connect every block to created landscaped courtyards. Layered spatial experiences, punctuated by shifts in perspective, are generated through a set of systematic organizational principles. The rhythmic slopes of the amenity roofs establish a counterpoint to the solid cuboidal forms of the hostel blocks.

Every hostel block has common spaces that facilitate social interactions, such as the double height breakout spaces for smaller gatherings, the courtyard for larger scale gatherings. Corridors and bridges that connect the two wings that serve as coincidental meeting spaces.

The amenities that support the hostels are strategically and contextually located to allow for social life around the campus.

Built-up Area - 20,700 Sqm
